The Real Thumbelina

1 x 60’

UK Premiere 9pm 12th December 2011 on ITV1

Amelie Gledhill is four but she is still only the size of a baby.  She has a rare form of dwarfism called Russell Silver Syndrome.  It is a complex genetic condition and as well as being tiny, Amelie has a variety of other medical problems. As she prepares to start school for the first time her parents struggle to find out how the condition might affect their little girl as she grows up.

The Real Thumbelina follows Amelie’s family as they set out to discover what can be done to help their daughter grow.
